BW02

$500.00

Oak low-back chair. Finished in Tung oil. Woven with Danish paper cord.

It’s very comfortable. This project is the first completely original design to come from my shop. I spent weeks drawing the plans based on some of the techniques I learned from Travis Curtis in his construction of the famous Jennie Alexander design.

It has obvious influence by Wegner and the mid-century style. What makes this chair unique from a technical aspect is that it was assembled and planned to use traditional peg-mortise and tenons rather than the more modern rectangular design or the ever-popular floating tenon (domino).

It is made from a single white oak log that I pulled from a field. All the parts are cut and shaped by hand in my shop. The crest rail is formed using a process of lamination (a journey unto itself). The rear legs were bent using a more traditional steam bend. The weave is a traditional Danish paper cord.

. Height: 28 inches

Seat height: 17 inches

Width; Outside of rail: 22 1/2; Inside of rail: 20 1/4

Seat: 18 1/2

Footprint; Front to back: 20 1/2 Side to side: 21
